Project Description

Consolation California Common
Dave Dave Brewing Company

design | branding | print

During the San Fransisco gold rush era in the late 1800s Anchor Brewing Company created a special beer still unmatched today. They called it a “Steam Beer”, though it is debated on why. In 1981 Anchor Brewing trademarked the name “Steam Beer”. Professional and homebrewers alike have been attempting to replicate steam beer since it’s origination. Because of the trademark, these beers are called “California Commons”.

To capture the feeling of accomplishment and failure miners endured throughout the gold rush, Dave Dave Brewing created their “consolation”.
